The Bowline

  • Most common knot used on a yacht
  • Very easy to undo even when it has had immense strain put upon it
  • Will not slip or shake out
  • Used on sails, docking
  • Can be done very fast (watch this video!)
  



Figure-eight knot

  • Easy to tie and undo
  • Used  to stop jib sheets sliding through the jib cars
  • We use this east time we sail

Rolling Hitch (useful to hang fenders)

 
  • Very quick to do
  • Ideal if the rope needs length adjustment
  • Ideal for hanging fenders and adjusting height

         

 

Cleat knot

  • Used when docking the boat
  • Used for rafting up
  • Ised when being towed
  • This is an every day knot
